Situated on the banks of the South River, Marshfield Yacht Club offers members access to one of the South Shore's most protected and scenic waterways.
The South River
The South River provides a sheltered passage from Marshfield Harbor to the open waters of Massachusetts Bay. Members enjoy easy access for day sails, fishing trips, and coastal cruises along the South Shore.
The river's winding channels and protected anchorages make it ideal for both experienced sailors and those new to coastal boating.
Navigational Notes
- Approach
- Enter via New Inlet, between Third and Fourth Cliffs, then follow the South River channel to the club, located on the western bank. Contact the club or check a current NOAA chart for up-to-date channel markers, as conditions near the South River entrance can shift with shoaling.
- Depth
- Mean low water depth at the club float is approximately 6 feet. Draft restrictions may apply at extreme low tides. The South River entrance has experienced significant shoaling in recent years. Mariners should use caution and avoid transiting within two hours either side of low tide.
- Facilities
- Club float with temporary tie-up. No fuel or pump-out available on site. Nearest fuel dock at Roht Marine, on the North River.
