Section l: General Rules
a.
Only members of the Marshfield Yacht Club, or any sanctioned yacht club
member and their guests will be allowed on the floats.
b.
All boats and equipment must be kept in clean, and in a non-offensive
condition. All persons are responsible for any damage to the boats and/or
docks which they may incur.
c. All children
twelve (12) years of age and younger, must wear a P.F.D.
when on the floats, and must be accompanied by an adult at all times
d. All fees including
club dues, assessments, and float fees must be paid in
full. Key cards must be issued before any member will be assigned a float
space.
e. Docking
time at the service float located at the end of A dock is limited to
one hour, unless permission is specifically granted by the Fleet Captain or
one of his assistants.
f. Any person who accepts allocation of a slip hereby agrees that said boat
and property is left in such place at the risk of the boat owner. The
Marshfield Yacht Club shall not be responsible for theft of nor damages to
said boat from any cause whatsoever,
nor to any personal property
aboard, or related to, said boat.
g. No
other persons other than the Fleet Captain or the Assistant Fleet
Captains are allowed
on any boat without the permission of the boat
owner. This rule applies under all conditions except an emergency where
a member’s boat or property is in danger.
h. Any member with assigned float space
giving permission to allow children
or family members covered under a family membership to operate his or
her boat must submit such permission in writing to the Fleet Captain
including acceptance of all liability
Section II: Float Space Guidelines
a.
Members must complete
in full the float application. Both the Fleet Captain
and the applicant must sign and date the float application. A copy of the
boat’s registration or documentation paper (COD), with proof of insurance
must be filed with the Fleet Captain
prior to the vessel being allowed to
occupy the assigned slip. Float applications must be filed annually.
Applicants will need to resubmit the float application prior to a change of
boat that occupies the assigned float space. The Fleet Captain will provide
all forms. The Fleet Captain will assign all float spaces. Float applications
which are not completed in their entirety will be returned.
b.
Any boat or person, which is a danger to the floats, other boats, persons
or property will be removed from the floats immediately.
c. Arrangements and positions of all boats
on the floats are to be at the
discretion of the Fleet Captain
d.
All float fees, dockage and rental fees shall be paid to and recorded by
the Treasurer no later than March 1st, with a thirty day (30) grace period
ending March 31st. There will be no exceptions. Failure to pay by
March 31st will result
in the forfeiture of the member’s float and/or
dinghy slip permanently. Float fees are non-refundable except
in
extenuating circumstances as determined by the Fleet Captain
with the Board of Directors’ approval.
Boat Slip $500.00 per year
Dinghy Slip $160.00 per year (Revised July 2008 from $80.00)
Rental Fees $1,000.00 per year or $20.00 per day not to exceed
$1,000.00)
e.
All members who have been assigned or are currently assigned a
permanent slip and are paid in full for the upcoming boating season must
have their float space occupied by July 1st of that calendar year. Failure
to do so will result in termination of all rights to that float space for the
remainder of that year. If the member does not occupy the float space by J
July 1st of the following calendar year, the member loses all rights to that
float space permanently. If any member with assigned float space
anticipates that his or her assigned space shall be vacant for more than 24
hours, said member must notify the Fleet Captain, or an Assistant Fleet
Captain, of the time and date of the contemplated vacancy.

f.
Temporary mooring or docking privileges either at the service float, or in a
vacated space, shall be permitted
for a specified fee. Fees will be
established by the
Fleet Captain or Assistant Fleet Captains. Advance
payment is required for all rental
fees. Any members seeking short-term
rental space must first obtain
approval from the Fleet Captain or an
Assistant Fleet Captain prior
to occupying the space.
g. Float
fees are non-refundable, except in extenuating circumstances as
determined by the Fleet Captain.
h. The
size of boats on the floats is thirteen feet (13 ft.) to twenty-three feet
(23
ft.). Dinghies measure less than fifteen feet (15 ft.). Boats over
twenty-eight
feet (28 ft.) (manufacturer’s centerline hull length) are not
allowed
on the floats. Boats between twenty-three feet (23 ft.) and
twenty-eight
feet (28 ft.) will be allowed on the floats, at the discretion of
the
Fleet Captain. The Fleet Captain shall not displace any boat to
accommodate
a larger boat.
i. Beam,
draft and height: If for some reason your boat does not fit into your
assigned
space, you may, with the approval of the Fleet Captain,
exchange
your assigned float space with that of another member, who
has
agreed to this swap. This is the responsibility of the boat owner
j. A
separate waiting list will be used for dinghy spaces. The length will be
less
than fifteen feet (15 ft.), at the Fleet Captain’s discretion.
k. Members on the waiting list may apply for rental of vacant spaces
for the up-coming
year. A written request must be submitted to the Fleet Captain,
anytime
after January 1. Those requests received prior to January 31, will
be
assigned on a seniority (waiting list number) basis. Requests received
after
January 31 will be considered by date of request. Requests for rental
space
must include all information as outlined in Float Rule Section II sub
section
a. and sub section h. All rentals are subject to all other float rules.
l.
The Fleet Captain should be notified of any problems or concerns
regarding the floats. The
Fleet Captain will respond within 2 weeks of
notification. Boat owners
not satisfied with the solution or result given by
the Fleet Captain may appeal to the Board
of Directors at their next
scheduled
meeting. No action is to be taken at a Business Meeting, until
these steps have been taken.

m.
Any member assigned float space must pay a one-time fee of one
thousand dollars ($1000) per slip and/or two hundred fifty dollars ($250)
per dinghy to Marshfield Yacht Club. This money will be returned to the
member within thirty (30) days after said space is relinquished.
Non-payment of these fees within thirty (30) days of notification will result
in the loss of slip/dinghy space and removal from the waiting list.
n.
Boats left unattended for a period of twenty-four (24) hours or more must
turn off AC power to the boat. Violators will be subject to a ten dollar ($10)
fee per violation for the use of the electricity. Unattended boats should be
reported immediately to the Fleet Captain or an Assistant Fleet
Captain. Under no circumstances should
any member unplug or turn off
the electricity to someone else’s boat. Doing so is in violation of Float Rule
Section I subsection g.
o.
All boats must be removed twelve (12) hours prior to the fall float-removal
work party. Any
boats remaining on the floats on the morning of this
mandatory work party will incur a fine of fifty dollars ($50).
Section III: Watches and Work Party
a.
All Members assigned a float space and/or on the waiting list to obtain a space, must
stand watch and must attend float work parties as assigned by the Fleet Captain. The Fleet Captain will
maintain attendance records for the year. If it
should happen that the watch calendar is full, with no uncovered watch days, the
Board of Directors will be exempt from standing watch. Thereafter, exemption will be extended to
members in the following order:

Members
70 years of age or older with 10 years of membership
•
Fleet Captain
Assistants
•
Life Members
Watches will begin May 15th and
will end October 15th
b. All members on the floats and/or waiting list must sign up for mandatory
watches prior to May 1. Each slip is responsible for two watch credits.
Two watch credits can be earned
by one member standing one watch with a family member
or friend or by one member standing two different watches. A fifty dollar fine ($50.00) fine
will be assed to those members signing up during the grace period between May 1st and May
31st. Failure to sign up for watch before June 1st will result in forfeiture of float space
and/or removal from the waiting
list.
c. Failure to stand assign watches and or failure to attend mandatory
work parties without prior arrangement with the Fleet Captain shall result
in an assessment of one hundred dollars ($100.00) fine, per person, due within
30 days of the infraction. The missed watches
must be rescheduled within one week of the originally assigned
date. Failure to appear for any rescheduled watches shall result in immediate expulsion from
the floats with forfeiture of assigned space and/or removal from the waiting list. Those
expelled from the floats and/or waiting list must apply in writing to
the Fleet Captain, in order to be reinstated and will be placed at the
bottom of the waiting list for both the dinghy and floats.

d.
Those standing watch must stay alert at all times during the
watch period from 11:00pm to 3:00am. Upon arrival for watch, these members must
sign the watch log, which is posted on the bulletin board. It is the responsibility of those
standing watch to patrol the club premises and docks. Those members standing
watch should never approach an individual or group after hours when
alone. In the event of an emergency, those
standing watch must call 911. 911 can be dialed from any phone
free of charge.
e.
Violation of any of these watch rules will result in mandatory appearance
at a hearing before the Fleet Captain and his assistants. Initial offenses
will result in assessment of a fine of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for
each infraction. Second offenses within the same year shall result in
immediate expulsion from the floats and/or removal from the waiting list. Those
expelled from the floats and/or waiting list must apply in writing to the Fleet Captain in order
to be reinstated and will be placed at the bottom of
the waiting list for both the dinghy and floats.
f.
Anyone sixteen (16) years of age or
older accompanied by an adult is allowed to stand watch. If, for some reason,
a member is unable to stand an assigned watch, it is that member’s responsibility to
arrange for substitute coverage. Those
on the standby list may be hired as substitutes at the rate of fifty dollars ($50.00)
per person per watch, payable by the member or members assigned to
the original watch.
g.
Notification of all changes must be reported
to the Fleet Captain no later than 48 hours prior the watch start time.
